My name is Langston Carter, and I specialize in public relations, strategic communication, and marketing.

I graduated from American University in 2022 with my BA in Public Relations and Strategic Communications with a minor in Legal Studies. I am currently pursuing an MA in Strategic Communications, focused on corporate communications and digital advocacy, with a projected graduation date of May 2025.

While I was still an undergraduate student, I worked for PW Perspective, a start-up newspaper based in Dumfries, VA. In my role as Managing Editor, I oversaw the publication’s editorial functions, managed our reporting staff, and developed the publication’s branding and social media presence.

After graduating, I briefly worked as a communications specialist for a global, industry-leading manufacturer before accepting a position at FSi Strategies, a leading Microsoft Solutions Partner. There, I worked as a Content Coordinator, managing the company’s social media strategy, content marketing, and eventually taking on a leading role in events, which were cohosted with Microsoft and other partners. More recently, I transitioned to the role of Interim Communications Manager during a period of restructuring at the company.

In April of this year, I was appointed by Chair Deshundra Jefferson of the Prince William Board of County Supervisors to serve part-time as her office’s Communications Director.

My professional licenses include an MS-900 certification from Microsoft as well as a Graphic Designs Fundamentals certification from Canva.

As an independent consultant, I have collaborated with small businesses, nonprofits, and campaigns, lending my expertise to improve their communication and targeted marketing to better amplify their messaging.

I am currently looking for my next full-time opportunity.

Aside from my professional endeavors, I am a former D-1 swimmer, and I’m still passionate about the sport. One of the highlights of my summer has been coaching for the same local swim team that I grew up on. It’s one way I’ve been able to give back to the community.
